An excellent explanation for some terrible hair!

Was a connection between the Owl and Wolvie ever established? Like Logan was his uncle/brother/father/jilted fiance?

As far as I know, they've never been linked. I think the closest the Owl ever got to the X-books was when they were planning to make him a secret mastermind in the early issues of X-Factor (They ended up introducing Apocalypse instead). The Owl might the only person in the Marvel Universe who's NOT linked to Wolverine in some way at this point...

A funny thing is that one of the commenters on Comics Should Be Good pointed out that there was an old issue of Marvel's humor book WHAT THE? that featured a barber giving Thor this haircut. It sounded familiar, so I checked my comic collection, and sure enough, I owned that issue. The weird thing is that story had one panel featuring Wolverine, the Owl, Quicksilver, the Space Phantom, Starfox and the Beast, the EXACT SAME CHARACTERS I chose to use in this piece. I hadn't read that story in at least a decade and I don't think I was subconsciously influenced by it, but still a funny coincidence.

I just cracked up! I'd noticed the hair styles when I was younger and had the classic question mark over my head about the whole thing way back then. Again; great piece, John :)
