LIID 106: Reboots of Future Past! by johntrumbull LIID 106: Reboots of Future Past! by johntrumbull
The Line It Is Drawn #106 for 9/13/12: Comic Book Cover Homages! I chose the suggestion of X-Men #141 as a parody of DC's new 52. You can see the original cover by John Byrne & Terry Austin here: [link]

I should also note that the heads in the corner box are not by me, but were done by the great Neal Adams for DC Comics in the 1970s.

And check out all the other great cover homages at the Line It Is Drawn here: [link]

One of the few times I have ever looked at anything involving DC's New52 and enjoyed it!

so true
And still I feel bad for Kori the most! Possibly the funniest thing I've seen all day, great work on catching the look
I stumbled upon this and was compelled to comment.  So amazingly creative and well thought out.  The nod to the 70's DC/80's Marvel head "roll call" was awesome.  I assume, if I were reading The New 52, I might know the answer to this question:  "Why did you pick Kid Flash and Wonder Girl?"  Naturally, I spent sometime browsing your other pieces.  You're very talented, clever, and witty.  If you will humor two requests.  I would love to see what you would do with Lois Lane 106.  Also, as a longtime Mike Grell Legion fan, I hope to see the 30th Century represented in your work.

Thanks for the kind words!  I used Kid Flash & Wonder Girl mainly because they've not been featured yet in the New 52 (or at least they weren't when I did this piece last year), and because I have a nostalgic affection for them from reading the New Teen Titans back in the day.

I don't have any real plans to do a Lois Lane 106 homage, but you never know!  And I did sneak in Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl and Cosmic Boy into my John Munch piece for TLIID this week.
This is a cool and informative cover. But a little confusing. Financial problems have forced me to give up comics for the past few years. could you give me a brief explanation of these changes as well as the pictures that Kid Flash and Wonder Girl are blocking.

If you skim the previous comments, you'll find I've covered most everything you asked about.  And if you want to find out more about the New 52 in general, there's this site called "Google" that you might find useful.  :)
